Presentation

Are the French happy?

Yes, since they continue to have more children than other Europeans, a sign of confidence in the future.

Yes, because they live longer, healthier lives. Yes, because, although the raditional family is rarer than before, new forms of family unit are being calmly invented and supported by law.

Yes, because the French consume more than other Europeans, maintain an “art of living” that balances work, family and going out to cafés, restaurants, cinemas and exhibitions.

And yet...

When they are surveyed, the French do not think they are less happy than their neighbours, but they are more worried, especially for their children. What is the reason?
