France welcomes the appointment of a new secretary-general at the OECD after a nomination procedure that was open and transparent. Mr. Gurria will take up his duties in June.

As you know, France pays close attention to the work of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, which we’ve hosted since its foundation. The OECD is making an important contribution to the regulation of globalization. The new secretary-general arrives at a critical time for the Organization. He will have to meet the challenge of reforming the OECD.
