Firing of short-range missiles carried out by North Korea (October 13, 2009)
France deplores the firing of short-range missiles carried out by North Korea. Such action once again flouts Pyongyang’s obligations under United Nations Security Council resolutions.
France calls on Pyongyang to refrain from any gesture likely to increase tension in the region and risk jeopardizing the possibilities of dialogue offered by the international community.
Our objective remains the complete, verifiable and irreversible dismantlement of North Korea’s nuclear and ballistic programmes.
We encourage any initiative which could bring North Korea back to the path of dialogue with the international community. It is important for North Korea to comply with United Nations Security Council provisions.
