The Ministry of Foreign Affairs with the Ministry of Culture and the Centre National de la Cinématographie implemented in 1984 an original policy for cooperation with the film sectors of Southern countries. This opening up to cultural diversity resulted in the creation of new selective production support funds for these films, notably through the Fonds Sud Cinéma and the Appui au Développement des Cinémas du Sud (ADC Sud).
Since january 2004, the ADC Sud Fund has become the “Fonds Images Afrique”
Thanks to this innovative policy, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is participating in the development of new creative trends in filmmaking in the world and has already helped in discovering new talent recognized by international critics and the most prestigious festivals.
Since its was created, Fonds Sud cinéma has helped more than 400 projects which have often been presented in international festivals.
