The French President made an official visit on 29 and 30 March 2010 to New York and Washington. His meetings with President Obama have made it possible to note a very strong understanding with regard to major international subjects (Iran, Near East, Afghanistan) as well as global issues (climate, economy, nuclear energy). The visit was marked by strong gestures of friendship and respect for France.
The French President made an official visit to Washington and New York on 10 January 2011 to discuss the priorities of the French Presidency for the G8 and G20.
President Obama has visited France twice: on 3 April 2009 for the NATO Summit, which took place on 3 and 4 April in Strasbourgand Baden-Baden and for the commemoration of the 65th anniversary of the Landings, on 6 June.
Prime Minister François Fillon, accompanied by Ms. Lagarde, went to New York and Washington on 22 to 24March2009, on the eve of the G20 in London, and he met with Vice President Biden as well as with representatives of financial environments .
In 2010, several ministers and VIPs went to Washington for meetings with their counterparts, such as Mr. Jean-Louis Borloo, Minister of State, Minister of Ecology, Energy, Sustainable Development and Land Planning, Ms. Christine Lagarde, Minister of the Economy, Industry and Employment, Mr. Bruno Le Maire, Minister of Food, Agriculture and Fisheries, and Mr. Hervé Morin, Defence Minister.
