The Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs has been informed of the kidnapping of a French International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) aid worker today in Darfur, west Sudan.
The Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs crisis centre and French Embassy in Khartoum are fully mobilized and keeping in close contact with the ICRC and the various parties concerned.

· France opened an embassy office in April 2006 in Juba, the capital of South Sudan, with the aim of developing relations with the autonomous government of South Sudan, in the context of the CPA.
