EU-Morocco Association Council (October 13, 2008)
The EU-Morocco Association Council was held in Luxembourg on 13 October. The EU used this occasion to highlight its sensitivity to Morroco’s specific expectations and needs and show its willingness to respond favourably to the perspective of advanced status sought by this country. This meeting was also an opportunity to review close and trustworthy cooperation between the EU and Morocco.
The Association Council met at ministerial level - the highest decision-making level governing bilateral relations between the European Union and Morocco.
The quality of cooperation established with the EU since the implementation of the Barcelona Process in 1995 will be pursued as part of a reinforced neighbourhood policy. Partnership with Morocco is of crucial importance to the European Union given the role played by this country in the region.
