France is attached to Lebanon’s stability and its relations with all Lebanese communities. We urge all Lebanese parties to uphold the commitments made in the Baabda Declaration of June 15, 2012, aimed at disassociating Lebanon from the war in Syria. By intervening on a massive scale in Syria, Hezbollah departs from this consensus. Syria’s war is not Lebanon’s war. Importing it to Lebanon jeopardizes its stability, as shown by the increased tensions in the country.
Lebanon – Payment of a contribution of €1.5 million to the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (24.04.13)
France has paid a contribution of €1.5 million to the budget of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon for 2013. This brings the total amount of financial support provided by France since the tribunal was created to more than €7 million.
Increase in tensions at the border between Syria and Lebanon (22.04.13)
France is deeply concerned at the increase in tensions at the border between Syria and Lebanon. During the weekend, the fighting that took place in Syria around Qusayr was accompanied by further rocket attacks against the Hermel region in Lebanon. These rocket attacks compromise Lebanon’s integrity and sovereignty and threaten the security of the Lebanese people.

We strongly condemn the bombing carried out from Syria which killed two people and injured several others on Sunday in the Hermel region of the Lebanese territory. This incident is another unacceptable violation of Lebanon’s sovereignty.
