Meeting between Bernard Kouchner and Ehud Barak (June 15, 2009)
On June 15, 2009, Bernard Kouchner received Ehud Barak, Israeli Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, for a meeting followed by a working dinner.
This meeting, which closely followed the Israeli Prime Minister’s speech at the Bar Ilan University, was an opportunity to review, with Ehud Barak, the prospects for the peace process, which France would like to see swiftly resumed.
Bernard Kouchner also discussed with the Israeli Minister of Defense developments in the situation on the ground in the West Bank and in Gaza.
Lastly, the ministers discussed regional issues, in particular the current situation in Iran, and reviewed efforts to secure the release of Gilad Shalit.
The meeting was followed by a press briefing.
