Close for reasons of language and history, a neighbour of the French Departments of America (DFA), Haiti holds a special place for France. While trade relations with Haiti have traditionally been modest, French cooperation actions have grown considerably since the departure of President Aristide, the conduct of free elections and the election of President Préval in 2006: from 12 million euros in 2005, the volume thereof is expected to exceed 30 million in 2009.
