President Jammeh’s official visit to Paris in February 1998 marked the recognition by France of the electoral process he was able to successfully conclude. The Foreign Minister, Mr. Lamine Karba Jato, was received by the Minister responsible for Cooperation, Development, and the French-speaking World, Mrs. Girardin, in April 2006.

While Franco-Gambian relations are monitored from Dakar, the Foreign and European Affairs Ministries has had a permanent agent in Banjul since September 2004.

The Foreign Minister, Mr. Mamadou Tangara, was received by the Minister for Cooperation’s Director of the Office on December 8th, 2010.
