France and Equatorial Guinea enjoy sound political relations that are developing in the contexts of the franc area and Francophony (accession in 1989).

France maintains good relations with Equatorial Guinea. The pattern of our exchanges and the quality of our bilateral cooperative relations allow France to accompany this country in its exceptional development. Our cooperation, which is based from this point on the principal of joint funding, can be considered a model for cooperation in Africa and France wishes to continue to work in tandem with the Equatorial Guinean authorities on the basis of this special and constructive partnership. The friendly relations that have been linking our two countries for a long time are based on trust.
