Ecuador

Traditionally, France enjoys a capital of sympathy and considerable cultural influence in Ecuador. The bilateral relationship underwent fresh impetus in 2008, from the angle of the hostage crisis in Colombia: conversation of MsRama Yade, Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and Human Rights with President Correa in Guatemala on 10 January 2008, Minister Bernard Kouchner’s visit to Quito on 29 April, President Correa’s working visit to Paris on 13 May 2008.
