We condemn in the strongest possible terms the assassination of radio journalist Okapi Didace Namujimbo on November 21. We express our sincere condolences to his family, his colleagues and his loved ones.

Following the killing of Serge Maheshe in June 2007, this assassination once again targets the editorial staff of Radio Okapi, a symbol of the freedom of expression and the media’s mission to inform the public in this part of Africa.

We call on the Congolese authorities to fully investigate this heinous act and to do everything in their power to arrest and try the perpetrators.
