Statement by Bernard Kouchner :
I applaud the European Parliament’s decision to award Guillermo Fariñas this year’s Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought.
Introduction
Since 1996, our political relations have been in line with the European framework defined by the Common Position.
At the French President’s request, Jack Lang carried out a mission to Havana in February 2009, in order to explore channels for normalizing and developing ties between France and Cuba. The terms of resuming intergovernmental cooperation are currently under consideration.
