Political relations


Cape Verde opened an embassy in Paris in 1996. Minister Delegate for Cooperation Jacques Godfrain went to Cape Verde in April 1997, and Prime Minister Carlos Veiga made a working visit to France on 24 June 1998. Minister Delegate for Cooperation and Francophonie Charles Josselin went to Cape Verde in October 2002.

Cape Verde’s Prime Minister Neves made a working visit to France from 17 through 22 November 2003, during which he met with public and private leaders of the French tourism sector at the Paris Chamber of Commerce. He also had lunch with Minister Delegate for Cooperation and Francophonie Pierre-André Wiltzer. Cape Verde’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Communities, Mr. BORGES, went to France in April 2004 and March 2005. France’s Minister Delegate for Cooperation, Development and Francophonie, Ms. GIRARDIN, made an official visit to Praia in June 2005. Finally, in October 2006, Mr. BORGES signed a framework partnership document (FPD) with Ms. Girardin in Paris, establishing the cooperation between our two countries for five years.
