The French interministerial delegation was led by President Sarkozy’s Deputy Diplomatic Advisor, Mr. André Parant. We want to thank Algeria for holding this conference, which, for the first time, is bringing together the international partners of Algeria, Mauritania, Mali and Niger to address this issue.
ReadThe rapprochement between France and Algeria has been at work since 2000. The French President’s State visit to Algeria from 2 to 4 March 2003 launched a revival in cooperation through the construction of an “exceptional partnership” between the two countries. The French President’s State visit to Algiers and Constantine from 3 to 5 December 2007 made it possible to revise our cooperation profoundly, specifically through the approval of a framework partnership document and the signing of a partnership agreement that has taken over from that of 1986. On the occasion of the Prime Minister’s visit 21-22 June 2008, two other important documents were signed: a cooperation agreement in the field of civil nuclear energy and a cooperation agreement in the area of defence.
