Vietnam – Economic diplomacy – Visit by Matthias Fekl (14-15.04.15)
Matthias Fekl, Minister of State for Foreign Trade, the Promotion of Tourism and French Nationals Abroad, visited Vietnam from April 14 to 15. He attended the signing of an agreement with BNP Paribas to finance five of the 62 Airbus A 320/A321 aircraft ordered by the airline VietJet Air for $60 million.
Vietnam – Visit by Ms. Fleur Pellerin (21-22.07.14)
This visit was aimed at developing our bilateral trade relations (with a continued deficit of €2 billion) by increasing the market share of French companies to the level of the ambitions set by the bilateral strategic partnership signed in 2013.

The “Vietnam, unique and multi-faceted” exhibition – 54 faces and adornments of the Vietnamese nation, could be seen at the Orangerie du Sénat. It will showcase photographs and traditional Vietnamese clothing.
Vietnam – Release of political prisoners (18.04.14)
The Vietnamese authorities have just proceeded with the release of political prisoners Nguyen Huu Cau, Cu Huy Ha Vu, Vi Duc Hoi and Nguyen Tien Trung. This is a positive development.
Vietnam – Sentencing of Pham Viet Dao (19.03.14)
France deplores the sentencing of Vietnamese blogger Pham Viet Dao on March 19 to fifteen months in prison. We reaffirm our attachment to the freedom of expression and opinion, including on the Internet, in accordance with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

France deplores the sentencing on March 4 of Vietnamese blogger Truong Duy Nhat to two years in prison.
Vietnam – Blogger Le Quoc Quan’s prison sentence upheld on appeal (18.02.14)
France is concerned by the appeal court decision to uphold the sentence of Vietnamese lawyer and blogger Le Quoc Quan, who was sentenced in first instance on October 2, 2013, by the Hanoi People’s Court to a 30-month prison term for tax evasion.
Vietnam - Arrest of blogger Truong Duy Nhat (27.05.13)
This arrest follows a series of convictions handed down against rights defenders in Vietnam since autumn 2012, which breach human rights. France notably expressed its concerns after two young Vietnamese, Nguyen Phuong Uyen and Dinh Nguyen Kha, were sentenced to heavy punishments on 16 May. France is particularly attentive to these issues, which are the subject of a dialogue between the European Union and Vietnam.
Vietnam – Prison sentences handed down to human rights defenders (11.01.13)
France condemns the heavy prison sentences handed down on 9 January to 14 human rights defenders by the People’s Court of Nghe An Province in Vietnam. Several similar decisions have been taken by the Vietnamese authorities in recent months.
