Syria – Violence perpetrated by the regime and Daesh (13 de abril de 2015)

France condemns the intense bombing carried out by the Syrian regime’s air force in recent days. On Saturday, 35 people were killed in Aleppo, including at least 5 children during an attack against a school. In Idlib, the bombing has reportedly killed more than 236 people in the past two weeks. A large majority of the victims of these daily indiscriminate raids are civilians. Nothing can justify these acts.

France expresses its concern about the disastrous humanitarian situation in the Palestinian refugee camp in Yarmouk. Daesh’s offensive is further exacerbating the suffering of its inhabitants. Thousands of civilians have been besieged and left to starve there for more than two years and are being targeted by the regime’s bombing.

We call for an end to this violence which flouts the most basic principles of international humanitarian law. The perpetrators must be brought to justice.

France also reaffirms the urgent need to work toward a political solution in Syria that will fully implement the Geneva Communiqué, the only way to put an end to the conflict.
