Syria - Q&A – Excerpts from the daily press briefing (21.07.16)

Q - The Syrian minister of foreign affairs is accusing France of being behind the air strike on the city of Manbij. Do you confirm this? The Syrian opposition is calling for the suspension of the coalition-led air strikes. What is France’s position regarding this?

A - We do not give any credence to statements made by Bashar al-Assad’s regime.

On the sidelines of a meeting of the defense ministers of the coalition in Washington devoted to the fight against Daesh, the United States announced the opening of an investigation. This investigation will determine whether the strikes by the coalition to counter Daesh have resulted in civilian casualties in Manbij.
