Syria – Amnesty International report on Syrian prisons (August 18, 2016)

The Amnesty International report on Syrian prisons published on August 18, which describes the regime’s widespread use of torture, is damning.

France condemns the unconscionable violence inflicted by the Syrian regime on thousands of arbitrarily detained persons, notably in Saydnaya Prison.

This report reaffirms once again – following the Caesar file – the barbarity of Bashar al-Assad’s regime.

France reaffirms its commitment to combating – notably in all international forums - impunity for the crimes committed in Syria.
