France-South Africa Season - Laurent Fabius’s participation in the opening of the exhibition entitled "Nelson Mandela: From Prisoner to President” (Paris, May 29, 2013)
Laurent Fabius, Minister of Foreign Affairs, will today inaugurated at Paris City Hall, alongside Paul Mashatile, South Africa’s Minister of Arts and Culture, and Bertrand Delanoë, Mayor of Paris, the "Nelson Mandela: From Prisoner to President” exhibition which ran from May 30 to July 6, 2013.
This exhibition was a highlight of the opening week in Paris of the France-South Africa Season, which ran until December 2013. It made possible, for the first time in France, to present President Mandela’s life story and his fight for equality and human rights through images, films and first-hand accounts.
The South African Season in France, which followed the French Season in South Africa (July to November 2012), provided an opportunity to discover South Africa’s culture, dynamism and creativity through numerous events to be held in more than a hundred cities in France.
