The Franco-Slovak trade has accelerated in recent years thanks to the production of Peugeot 207 and Citroen C3 Picasso cars. France is now the second largest foreign investor outside the banking sector after Germany (roughly € 5 billion of FDI, 390 subsidiaries and employs approximately 35,000 people). The largest French investments are Gaz de France, France Telecom/Orange and PSA.
In 2009, bilateral trade volume reached € 4.3 billion. France is the 3rd client (behind Germany and the Czech Republic) and the 7th provider of Slovakia. France represents 4.7% of Slovak imports and 7.8% of its exports.
