France pays tribute to the memory of the great Moroccan playwright, Tayeb Saddiki, who died on February 5, and his contribution to promoting theater around the world.
Tayeb Saddiki was one of the greatest figures in theater in Morocco and in the Arab world. The author of more than 80 original plays and adaptations, and an immensely talented director, he embraced cinema and television very early on, and also distinguished himself as an actor in some 50 plays and dozens of films.
France has lost a very dear friend. Having worked in the 1950s with Jean Vilar, Officier in the Order of Arts and Letters, Tayeb Saddiki was honored a few weeks ago by the Comédie-Française - on tour in Morocco – during a very moving event.
