Cultural, scientific and technical cooperation
Our cultural and linguistic cooperation consists of an Alliance Française in Chisinau – the most visible Western facility in the capital – which has seven branches in the provinces. The French language is still the number one language taught in secondary schools with over 50% of students. There are about 2500 French teachers, which all have substantial support from France (training, education and study materials).
The main objectives for our bilateral cooperation in this field are strengthening the French language (support for six French courses in higher education; training French language counselors and teachers, support for teacher training); training new elites (about one hundred scholarships and internships funded annually, support for two Francophone Master’s Degrees – economics and law); promoting cultural diversity; and supporting public institutions by training officials (justice; internal security; health; agriculture). Co-financing operations are conducted with French-speaking (Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie, Association of Francophone Parliamentarians), multilateral (UNDP, WHO, UNICEF), and European donors.
