France condemns the arson attack on the office of the daily newspaper El Norte in San Pedro Garcia Garza on July 29 by an armed group. It expresses its concern over this latest attack, which came after two of the paper’s other offices were targeted on July 10.

It urges the Mexican authorities to do everything in their power to ensure that these heinous acts, which directly target the functioning of the press, do not go unpunished.

France hails the courage of journalists who are practicing their profession throughout the world despite the threats they are subjected, to and stresses how important it is to democracy to protect freedom of expression.
