Statement by the Ambassadors to Libya of the People’s Republic of China, France, the Russian Federation, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and the United States of America (March 24, 2017)

In light of recent conflict in Libya’s Oil Crescent and Tripoli,
Taking note of relevant UN Security Council resolutions, including UNSCRs 2213, 2259 and 2278,
Mindful that such attacks, including those against oil installations, threaten Libya’s peace, stability and security,

We underscore that petroleum infrastructure, production, export and revenues belong to all Libyan people and must remain under the exclusive stewardship of the National Oil Corporation. We call for all parties to exercise restraint, avoid military solutions, and resolve differences through political processes.
