Libya - Presentation of a national unity government (14 February 2016)
We call on the House of Representatives to meet as quickly as possible to express its confidence in that government, which will have to be established in Tripoli as soon as possible.
The Libyan stakeholders must act responsibly in this phase, which is decisive for the country’s future. The international community will remain firm in the face of those who knowingly obstruct the political transition, as M. Jean-Marc Ayrault, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Development, recalled at the ministerial meeting in Munich on 13 February.
The political process is the only way of restoring peace and stability to Libya. We support the mediation of the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Representative, Mr Kobler. France stands by the national unity government in the face of the political, humanitarian and security challenges confronting the country.
