Lebanon – Inauguration of the Regional School for Humanitarian Demining in Lebanon (5 October 2017)

France welcomes the inauguration of the Regional School for Humanitarian Demining in Lebanon on October 5, in the presence of Lebanese General Ziad Nasr, Ambassador of France Bruno Foucher and Head of the Directorate for Security and Defense Cooperation General Didier Brousse.

The purpose of the school is to train civilians and military personnel from the region in the destruction, removal and rendering harmless of explosives.

In keeping with its commitment to protecting civilian populations, France was the driving force behind this project and actively participated, with the support of the EU, in its implementation. This regional school should make it possible to respond effectively, over the next few years, to the needs of humanitarian demining in the region, which is currently facing war and terrorism.
