Lebanon – Violence (March 17, 2014)
France condemns the car bomb attack perpetrated on March 16 in the village of Nabi Osman (Bekaa) which left 4 people dead, as well as the attacks at the borders and the clashes in Tripoli. It expresses its condolences to the victims’ families.
All terrorist attacks and violations of civil peace in Lebanon, regardless of the perpetrators and the motives, are unacceptable.
France would like to reaffirm its full support for the Lebanese institutions and their guarantor, President Suleiman, who is trying to prevent Lebanon from being drawn into the spiraling Syrian crisis. While Tammam Salam’s government has made security one of its priorities, it calls on all parties to unite and to work to respond to the attempts to destabilize the country.
