Visit by Hélène Conway-Mouret to Central America (16-22 May)
From 16 to 22 May, Mme Conway-Mouret, Minister Delegate for French Nationals Abroad, is going to Central America: Guatemala, El Salvador and Costa Rica. This is the first ministerial visit to the three states in the region for nearly 10 years.

Starting on February 21, I will travel to three Latin American countries – Colombia, Panama and Peru – to work on revitalizing our relations with this continent. My visit to the region, following those by the president and the prime minister, has a clear purpose: we want to foster a lasting rapprochement with Latin America; this is a major foreign policy objective for us.

France immediately mobilized its efforts to help the people affected by this tropical storm, whose impact is still being assessed. Many people died, tens of thousands of houses, schools and health centers were destroyed and more than 2 million people were directly affected in this region.

Our embassy in the United States and our consulates general in Atlanta, Boston, New York and Washington are fully mobilized to help our compatriots in the region, who are urged to exercise the utmost caution, particularly when travelling.
