Kenya – Attacks on two churches in the town of Garissa on July 1, 2012
The town of Garissa, 140 km from the border with Somalia, was yesterday targeted by two bloody attacks directed against two churches, killing 17 people and injuring several dozen others.
France utterly condemns this barbaric act.
In these tragic circumstances, France expresses its heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and hopes that those responsible for these attacks will be swiftly arrested and prosecuted.
While Kenya is entering a phase that is critical to its future in the run-up to the elections of March 2013, France reaffirms its solidarity with the Kenyan people and government as well as its attachment to the country’s stability.
