Iraq – Execution of 163 civilians by Daesh (6 June 2017)

We have taken note of the revelations made on June 6 by the UN high commissioner for human rights that 163 people were murdered on June 1 by Daesh as they were attempting to flee Mosul.

France condemns this heinous crime.

This confirms, once again, the legitimacy of France’s fight against Daesh.

We extend our condolences to the victims’ families and assure the Iraqi people of our wholehearted solidarity.

France and its coalition partners, alongside the Iraqi security forces, whose courage we commend, are working every day to defeat this terrorist organization in Iraq. The protection of civilians and respect for international humanitarian law are priority areas for our action.
