India – French–Indian consultations (Paris, June 17, 2013)
Laurent Fabius, Minister of Foreign Affairs, received, on June 17, Mr. Ranjan Mathai, Secretary General of the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, on the occasion of the annual consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, co-chaired by Mr. Pierre Sellal, Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and his Indian counterpart.
These consultations confirmed the excellent nature of French–Indian relations which are based on a strategic partnership, the critical importance of which President Hollande reaffirmed during his state visit to India from February 14 to 15, 2013.
The consultations provided an opportunity to review the actions undertaken with respect to the four pillars of the strategic partnership: defense, civilian nuclear energy, space and the fight against terrorism. They also provided an opportunity to discuss the prospects for increased trade and investment, our cooperation in scientific, academic and cultural fields as well as the main international issues.
