Demonstrations in Egypt (Q&A - Excerpt from the daily press briefing - December 12, 2012)
A : As the minister reaffirmed on December 9, it’s not up to the French authorities to dictate its decision to President Morsi. That being said, many Egyptians are raising legitimate questions regarding the process and the text itself. They deserve to be heard. While the text and its mode of adoption concern the future of Egypt, dialogue, the spirit of compromise and the rejection of violence must prevail.
The constitutional process under way must be guided by the universal values of the rule of law and the democratic principles on which the Egyptian revolution was based.
