Democratic Republic of Congo – Appointment of Mr. Said Djinnit as Special Envoy of the UN Secretary-General for the Great Lakes Region (July 17, 2014)
France welcomes the appointment of Mr. Said Djinnit as Special Envoy of the UN Secretary-General for the Great Lakes Region. He succeeds Mary Robinson, whose action we commend.
Like the UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for the Democratic Republic of Congo, Martin Koble, Said Djinnit will be able to count on France’s full support.
He will be responsible for mobilizing the efforts of all countries in the Great Lakes region and the international partners to find a lasting solution to the Great Lakes crisis. The full implementation in good faith of the Addis Ababa agreement of February 2013 will be key to achieving this goal.
