Democratic Republic of Congo – Awarding of the Fondation Chirac Prize to Dr. Denis Mukwege (Paris, November 21, 2013)

Yamina Benguigui, Minister Delegate for Francophonie, will today take part in the ceremony for the award of the Fondation Chirac Prize for Conflict Prevention, in the presence of President Hollande and Jacques Chirac. This prize will be awarded to Dr. Denis Mukwege for his action in support of women who have suffered sexual violence in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

On this occasion, Ms. Benguigui will also meet with the members of the “Femmes Africa Solidarité” organization, which will receive the Fondation Chirac Special Jury Prize for its efforts to promote the role of women in conflict prevention.
