Ratification of the Oslo Convention on Cluster Munitions by Côte d’Ivoire (March 12, 2012)
France welcomes the ratification of the Oslo Convention on Cluster Munitions by Côte d’Ivoire.
This decision by Côte d’Ivoire strengthens the Convention, giving it greater momentum through the rejection of these weapons that cause unacceptable humanitarian harm.
We are particularly looking forward to the forthcoming accession of a new State to the Convention; France was one of the first States to sign and ratify it.
We would like to take this opportunity to appeal to the States that are not Parties to the Convention to seriously consider acceding to it.
