Costa Rica – Meeting between Laurent Fabius and his counterpart (Paris, October 6, 2014)

Laurent Fabius, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Development, yesterday received Manuel González Sanz, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Worship of Costa Rica.

This meeting was the first ministerial-level contact with the new Costa Rican government since the election of President Luis Guillermo Solis in May.

The two ministers discussed all bilateral issues, including economic, academic and cultural issues. Laurent Fabius also reviewed our cooperation with respect to climate disruption and the defense of human rights. He welcomed Costa Rica’s application for observer status at the International Organization of la Francophonie; Costa Rica is the only Latin American country where the teaching of French is compulsory in secondary schools.
