Central African Republic – Attack on UN peacekeepers (11 May 2017)

France was saddened to learn of the death of the UN peacekeepers who were reported missing following the attack on a MINUSCA convoy on May 8 in the Central African Republic. The toll for that attack is now 5 dead and 10 injured.

France renews its deepest condolences to the Cambodian and Moroccan authorities, and to the families of the peacekeepers who lost their lives.

France reiterates its condemnation of this attack and its full support for the efforts carried out by MINUSCA and its contingents to stabilize the Central African Republic and protect civilian populations.

France calls for a full investigation of this attack on the peacekeepers, which may constitute a war crime, and for those responsible to be identified and brought to justice.
