The economic relations between France and Cabo Verde remain at fairly modest levels (especially when set against the archipelago’s trade relations with Portugal and the Netherlands), and the balance of trade is structurally in France’s favour. In 2010, French exports were worth €10.5 million, made up primarily of foodstuffs, professional equipment and consumer goods. Imports (tyres, plastics) are limited (€20,000 in 2010). Direct investment by France in Cabo Verde is less than €1 million.
