Cultural, scientific and technical cooperation
Bilateral cultural, scientific and technical cooperation gives priority to supporting civil society through training the future elite and cultural, linguistic, university and scientific actions aimed at young people.
Bilateral university cooperation is based on a system of three French-language courses of study set up in local universities. Two structures of higher education supported by France: the Franco- Belarusian Centre for Political Science and European Studies in Minsk (with the University of Bordeaux) and the Institute of Management in Gomel (with the University of Clermont I).
In the area of science and research, cooperation initiatives have been underway since 2003 between the National Centre for Scientific Research and the Belarusian National Academy of Science, making it possible to fund joint scientific projects. Finally, our Embassy is developing a certain number of cultural and linguistic events (in 2010, France was the guest of honour at the book fair, opening of the “Peindre la Normandie” [Painting Normandy] exhibition on 30 March 2010, etc.).
It should be noted that France and Belarus signed a cultural, educational, scientific, technical and media cooperation agreement during Vice Prime Minister Semachko’s visit in January 2010. A partnership agreement between the MEDEF and the Belarusian confederation of manufacturers and entrepreneurs was also signed.
