Cultural, scientific and technical cooperation
France provides support to Angolan institutions via two technical assistant posts, concentrating mainly on the higher education sector.
On the sidelines of the President’s visit on 23 May 2008, two bilateral cooperation agreements, one on water and the other on health, were signed. This was in addition to funding agreements for two major Priority Solidarity Fund (FSP) projects, one involving the sum of €840,000 to support the development of the French language in Angola (ADELFA), and the second (€1.7 million) to support the planning and creation of technological courses for Angola’s public higher education system, including the creation of a Higher Institute of Food Technology in Malanje.
France has a network of three independent Alliances Françaises schools in Angola (Luanda, Lubango and Cabinda).
In March and April 2012, two Quai d’Orsay Entreprises agreements were signed with the Total and Schlumberger groups respectively. Under the terms of these agreements, seven Angolan students were awarded grants to study at a French IUT (university institute of technology) for two years.
