Visit by Hélène Conway-Mouret to Central America (16-22 May 2013)
From 16 to 22 May, Mme Conway-Mouret, Minister Delegate for French Nationals Abroad, is going to Central America: Guatemala, El Salvador and Costa Rica. This is the first ministerial visit to the three states in the region for nearly 10 years.
In Guatemala, Mme Conway-Mouret will meet Otto Pérez Molina, President of Guatemala. She will also have meetings with Mauricio Lopez, Minister of the Interior, and Ivan Espinosa, Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs. She will visit the French lycée Jules Verne and meet French voluntary organizations and our compatriots. The Minister will also have a discussion with the members of the Embassy’s economic council, in a country where French exports increased by 28% in 2012.
In El Salvador, the Minister Delegate will hold talks with Hugo Martínez, Minister of External Relations, Juan José García, Vice-Minister for Salvadorans Abroad, and Juan Daniel Alemán, General Secretary of the Central American Integration System. She will visit the French lycée in San Salvador and meet representatives of our voluntary organizations, economic circles and the French community.
In San José, Costa Rica, meetings are scheduled with Enrique Castillo, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Religion, and Johnny Araya, Mayor of San José. Mme Conway-Mouret will have a working meeting at the French-Costa Rican lycée and meet our compatriots. Finally, together with the French business community in San José, she will take part in the establishment of the Embassy’s economic council.
