Foreign Minister Philippe Douste-Blazy meets with Mr. Javier Solana,
EU’s High Representative for Foreign Policy and Security

Javier Solana, Secretary-General of the European Union Council and High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy, made a visit to Paris on Monday, January 9. He had meetings with Foreign Minister Philippe Douste-Blazy and European Affairs Minister Delegate Catherine Colonna. He was received for luncheon by Defense Minister Michèle Alliot-Marie.
Current events in the Middle East (in particular the situation in Israel, the Palestinian elections and the European missions in the region), Lebanon, Iran, the European commitment in the Balkans and Mr. Solana’s proposals to strengthen the CSFP and ESDP in the wake of the informal summit at Hampton Court were due to be discussed at these meetings.
